City Reserves twice came from behind to earn a 2-2 draw with Cambridge at Colney on Wednesday, with Ian Henderson and Adam Smith the City scorers. There was a scare for Norwich when after just 20 minutes Ryan Jarvis was stretchered off. Although it was first feared that there was some ligament damage, reports from the treatment table suggest that it may not be as bad as first thought. With next weeks F.A.Youth Cup clash against Sheffield United looming, Sammy Morgan will be desperate for a fully fit Jarvis to be lining up alongside Danny Crow against the young Blades. The Cambridge line up included two familiar faces to Colney. First was Norwich third year scholar David Tyrie, who has been told that he will not be offered a pro contract by Norwich and is currently on trial at Cambridge. |

The second was Kalum Mooniaruck, who you may recall caused something of a stir a few years back when he rejected the offer of a contract with Norwich and instead signed as a scholar for Manchester United. At the time there was much talk of the Premiership giants abusing the system when they flew the player from his home near Stansted to Manchester at the weekends, thus not breaking the Academy one and half hour travel rule. It took the visitors just 5 minutes to open the scoring when a loose ball from Clint Easton was worked out to Daryl Plummer who raced clear to beat Joe Lewis with a shot across goal that went in off the upright. |

City replied on 21 minutes when Mark Rivers threaded a ball through the U's defence for Henderson to race onto and finish in some style. Henderson went close not long after, but his shot from a very tight angle was well held at the second attempt by Martin Brennan in the visitors' goal. Into the second-half and again Henderson went close, this time a long range effort that grazed the crossbar. Keith Webb withdrew Henderson and Rivers and not long after it was Cambridge who led for a second time. Joe Lewis failed to collect a corner and it was a delighted Tyrie who was on hand to drive a low shot into the far corner. The lead, however, only lasted 60 seconds, as Adam Smith pulled City level with a left foot shot, again into the far corner. |
