Despite a similar score line to the one at Northampton last week, this was a much-improved performance from City Reserves. Just one goal for the Canaries in a dominant first half performance didn't tell the whole story and instead of going in all square at one apiece at half time, Keith Webb's side should have been three or four goals to the good. Ian Henderson opened the scoring on 21 minutes after Alex Notman lifted a clever ball over The Posh defence. Before then Notman had seen a 30-yard effort tipped over the crossbar, while Dean Sinclair and Damian Batt had also gone close. Henderson might have had a second but mis-hit his shot from close range before City were awarded a penalty when Ryan Jarvis was brought down. Notman stepped forward but Shane Gore, on loan from Wimbledon, made a great save down to his right. It was the turning point in the game as Peterborough drew level on the stroke of half time through Steven Francis. |

Four minutes into the second half and Peterborough took the lead when Paul Crichton saw a harmless looking shot from Steven Thomson bobble over him into the net, and then just two minutes later City were caught napping from a quickly taken free-kick, allowing Jamie Day to beat Crichton with an angled shot. City continued to push forward with David Chick working well down the left flank. They pulled a goal back on 63 minutes when Henderson scored his second but despite a late charge they failed to draw level. Norwich Line-Up: Crichton, Briggs, Chick, Sinclair, Shackell, Crane, Batt, Henderson, Jarvis [Crow 67], Notman, Blackburn [Willis 60] Subs not used: Herbert, Tyrie. |
