The Norwich Reserve team got a rare run-out at Carrow Road on Monday evening, as Barry Fry and his Peterborough Reserve side came to Norwich for a Pontins Cup match. At times it looked as though the game might have to be abandoned as fog swirled around the ground on a cold evening. FONCY staged its AGM (report to follow) before the game and the majority of attendees staying on to see seven past or present academy players start the game against the "The Posh". |

It was, however, Mark Rivers who grabbed the headlines in a dour first-half. On the half-hour the winger picked up a long through ball from Jason Shackell and beat his marker before squeezing the ball past the Peterborough keeper at the near post. City were not often in trouble and the midfield duo of Dean Sinclair and Lee Blackburn worked hard to keep a firm grip on the game as the fog came down. Ryan Jarvis and Danny Crow generally had little success up front but it was Crow who made a second goal for Norwich after 60 minutes as the fog cleared for a period in the second-half. The Academy striker forced his way into the box and pulled the ball to allow Dean Sinclair to volley home in spectacular fashion from eight yards. |

Peterborough pulled a goal back with a quarter of an hour to go, Huke crashing a long-range effort past Crichton from over 30 yards. From what the watching crowd could make out City were rarely in danger as the fog again came down to ruin a potentially exciting end to the game. City line-up: Crichton, Briggs (Willis 75), Crane, Shackell, Chick (Batt 57), Rivers, Sinclair, Blackburn, Easton (Smith 69), Jarvis, Crow. Subs not used: A.Osborne, Howlett. Attendance: 742. |
