Norhalne Cup 2005, Denmark - Under-13's - May 2005

We've won the Cup!

The 1992 squad started in their group of six-team group against Trelleborgs of Sweden.

Having seen an older Trelleborgs team in Germany last year, the Canaries knew that they would face a tough side, but four first half-goals effectively finished the contest as the Canaries went in 4-1 at the break after an overwhelming first-half performance.

The key moment in the game and possibly the tournament came when Trelleborgs pulled back to 2-1 following a dubious penalty. The young Canaries hit back immediately with a goal and the game, which finished 5-1, was never in danger.

The second game of the first day was an all-English affair against Rushden and Diamonds. It was however two of our Danish players who got the goals following an early penalty for a 3-0 victory against the Northamptonshire side.

The 92's continued the second day where they had left off on the first.

The second day of competition was staged at Aalborg's impressive training complex, meaning the first game against Aalborg was effectively an "away" game. City didn't let that disturb them though, recording a sound 2-0 victory.

This was followed with another good win against Emmen from the Netherlands. Two early goals practically settled the game and the Canaries could even afford to miss a penalty in running out 4-0 victors.

The final group game against Frigg Oslo on Saturday morning saw Norwich needing a draw to secure top spot in the group and a place in the final. As it turned out City didn't take any risks and won 2-0 against the Norwegians with a comprehensive display.
The Final opponents were Cambridge City and the game proved to be the expected hard-fought game between two English sides.

Norwich produced the better football from the start and the Cambridge defence was stretched in the first-half. Norwich went into the break 1-0 up following a magnificent free-kick into the top corner.

Cambridge pressed for an equaliser in the second-half but the Canaries defence stood firm and City secured the Cup with a second goal, appropriately from one of our Danish guests.

The final whistle saw the Norwich team and coaches enjoy their deserved Cup win and a successful end to the competition.
