UNDER-13's FINISH FOURTH IN DENMARK After a one year break, Norwich Academy was again represented in the elite competition at this year's Norhalne Cup in Denmark which finished on Saturday. Academy manager Ricky Martin took a young Under-13 squad over to the tournament. Having won all their group games, City lost in the semi-finals to St. Joseph's Boys Club of Ireland, who went on to win the competition. The 3rd Place Play-off against BV Emmen of Holland finished 3-3 at full time and remarkably all 11 players from each side needed to take penalties before a winner could be found. |

Academy Manager Ricky Martin was generally happy with the squad's work. "We finished 4th and overall over the six games we only lost once in normal time to the eventual winners, so overall I was pleased with the performance". Ricky continued "It was a young squad with a mix of Under-13's and Under-12's and several can come back next year. The tournament was well organised as I would expect and have seen from previous visits and it gave us a good opportunity to test our players in this environment. I am confident that the players will return to England not only having enjoyed the event but also having learnt a great deal for their development which is our goal in the youth development programme." We are very grateful to Dutchman Peter Visser for providing us with photos from the 3rd Place Play-off match against Emmen.
