City Regain Jack Constance Cup

BECCLES TOWN 1 NORWICH CITY UNDER-16's 6

After an even first half when the teams were locked at a goal apiece, City's Under-16 Academy side (plus Declan Rudd and some trialists) stepped the pace up after the interval to run out comfortable winners in the annual Jack Constance Memorial Cup.

As always it was pleasure to return to Beccles for an event that Norwich have hardly missed in the past 30 years, and with the Town supporters as ever making everyone welcome and with one of the best cup of teas you will see all season, it was a most enjoyable evening.

Both sides had chances in the opening 15 minutes or so but City didn’t open their account until the 20th minute when centre-half Blaine Hudson headed home a corner.

The game continued to ebb and flow until with 33 minutes on the clock Rory French slipped the ball past Declan Rudd in the Canaries goal.

It stayed like that until the break but City regained the lead just three minutes into the second half through Manny Richardson while three minutes later Town defender Andy Woods was unlucky to deflect the ball past his own keeper.

On 70 minutes and again a deflected shot saw City score their fourth, the initial shot coming from substitute Ryan Scanlan.

The goal of the game came on 75 minutes when the lively Richardson beat two players in the area before lifting a delightful ball over the Town keeper.

The scoring was completed ten minutes before time when Ammo scored Citys sixth goal.

City Line-Up: Rudd, Hunter, Reynolds, Jirvandy, Hudson, Ammo, Dawkins, Richardson, Maximo, Hansah, Stephens.
