It was a very young squad that travelled to Culemborg in Holland to take part in the Under-17 (1992) tournament. While Academy scolars Kenny Reeves and Tyree Clarke joined the squad there were also places for Under-13 and Under-14 players to test themselves against older players. The first game was against local host club Focus 07. City took an early though Kenny Reeves before Focus equalised from a free-kick. Nevertheless City took control of the game in the first 20 minute half and led 4-1 at half-time with Kenny Reeves, Joe Clarke and Matt Ball adding the goals. City took their foot off the pedal in the second half as coach Dean Rastrick made several changes. Focus pulled a goal back through a penalty for the game to end 4-2. |

The Danes were an older side who not only had a physical advantage but also played some good football. City were lucky to go in at half-time only 1-0 down. They played much better in the second half but lost the match 2-0. |

The Dutch put out a skilful side but the Canaries controlled the first fifteen minutes of the match and took a deserved lead through Kenny Reeves to give hope of somewhat of an upset. Unfortunately a defensive lapse let Ajax back into the game at 1-1 and in the second half City unluckily let a second goal in to lose a game that they should have got more out of. |

The evening in their hotel in the “cheese city” of Gouda allowed the Canaries some rest and also saw an impromptu team building exercise as players and staff tested their engineering skills trying to build up the Kinder “Surprise Egg” toys with varying degrees of success. Harry B. claimed victory in the competition. |

Sunday saw one more match to be played with City unable to qualify for the semi-finals as they played ADO Den Haag in their final group game. Although there was only pride at stake City produced a fine fighting performance to beat the Dutch side through a Tyree Clarke goal while the midfield and defence held firm. |
