A young Norwich City Under-16 Academy side travelled to Gorleston last Monday for a friendly and were given a good run for their money by the Greens with City having to come from behind before eventually running out 5-3 winners. City's first three goals in a see-saw game came from James Page, John Bell from a free kick, an own goal following a header from Sam Willis. Gorleston levelled to 2-2 and 3-3 after taking an early lead. Chris Martin put City ahead again before Jamie Forshaw sealed victory with the fifth with over 80 minutes gone. |

A large crowd certainly enjoyed the game until it was unfortunately cut short by a few minutes after the home goalkeeper suffered what looked like a serious injury. We hope he is recovering well. Despite the worerying end to the game it was a good evening at Gorleston, an area and club which has provided several Academy players recently including Andrew Howell, Adam Mills and John Bell. The Under-16 side start their Academy League programme on September 4th with a game at Tottenham Hotspur. |
