A Norwich City Under-16s Squad, augmented by younger Academy scholars Korey Smith and Declan Rudd, put in some magnificent displays in the top quality Megacard Cup in Austria last week to finish in second place in the competition. The group games finished 2-2 against Spartak Moscow, 2-1 against Borussia Dortmund and 1-0 against hosts Austria Vienna. Saturday's final saw the young Canaries up against Hertha Berlin who have a fine tradition in producing young talent in Germany, recently most notable through Kevin Boateng and his seven million pound move to Tottenham. Norwich gave as good as they got in high class final after going 1-0 down to a first-half penalty, doing everything but score in the second-half. Despite defeat in the final the squad can be proud of their performances. A full report with many photos will be available on this website in the next few days. |
