Beccles Claim Jack Constance Cup

BECCLES TOWN 2 NORWICH CITY UNDER-17's 1

Norwich City Under-17's were in action on Monday night when they made the annual visit to Beccles Town to compete in the Jack Constance Cup, and for the first time in a number of years it was a very well organised home side that lifted the trophy after a very entertaining game.

David Williams took the opportunity to give a start to three players who are all just coming back from injury, goalkeeper Steve Arnold, defender Paul McLean and striker Seb Muddel.

Muddel should have given City a first-half lead from the penalty spot but Town keeper Daniel Cable, who just 48 hours earlier was playing for The Canaries against Sheffield United, made a good save.

Shortly after, Beccles took the lead with a header from Josh Woolnough.

Just five minutes later City were back on level terms when Luke Daley ran onto a through ball to side foot the ball past Cable.

Beccles were not to be denied however and they regained their lead seven minutes before the break with a blistering shot from Neil Hurren, after the ball fell kindly to him on the edge of the area.

Both sides had chances to score again after the break but both defences appeared to be on top with Paul McLean looking solid at centre-back for City.

City Line-Up: Arnold, Jelley, Cooper, Dedman, McLean, Davis, Parker, Muddel, Daley, Beeson, Smith.

Subs (both used): Davey, Dawson.
