Bally Smart was the hero again as David Williams' under-18 side earned a draw from their long journey to South Wales for their final away game of the season. The Canaries had to come from a goal behind to salvage a point with a goal 10 minutes from time from last week's two-goal hero, Smart. With very little rain in the past few days, it was a very firm pitch that greeted both sides at Glamorgan University. Norwich never really got their game together in the opening 45 minutes as the home side had the upper hand, although City thought they had taken the lead through Matthew Halliday, but his effort went in off Adam Gusterson, who was deemed to be in an offside position. With the game heading for a goalless first half, Cardiff took the lead just two minutes before the break when a free-kick from just outside the area came back off Joe Lewis' crossbar, allowing Cardiff the simplest of tap-ins. Williams was looking for a marked improvement after the break and he got just that as City put pressure on the home side. |

But it was not until the 80th minute that a clever ball over the top from Adam Smith allowed Smart to use his pace to race clear of his marker before rounding the 'keeper and slotting the ball into an empty net. City had their tails up in the remaining minutes but despite creating a couple of half chances they couldn't break the deadlock. City Line-Up: Lewis, Jarvis, Willis, Cave-Brown, Halliday, A Smith, Howell (Fisk, 45 min), Gusterson, Martin, Smart, Eagle. Subs Not Used: Bexfield, Eames, P Smith. City man of match: Adam Gusterson. Gary Butcher's City Under-16 side went down 2-0 to their Cardiff counterparts on Saturday. |
