Smart Double Secures Win

DEREHAM TOWN 0 NORWICH CITY XI 3

Although the game at Dereham Town on Saturday was originally scheduled to be an Under-18 City side, in the event a handful of young pro's were included in the starting line up.

Norwich, under the guidance of Darren Bloodworth, ran out 3-0 winners and the scoreline could have been far greater had it not been for a man of the match performance from the Magpies' keeper Shaun Marshall who pulled off a string of fine saves in denying a frustrated Ryan Jarvis on at least four occasions and even when brother Rossi beat Marshall the woodwork came to his rescue.

The home side certainly held their own in the first 45 minutes and Steve Arnold in the City goal had to be alert to make a couple of important saves.

City took the lead in first half stoppage time through Bally Smart who raced clear to fire the ball past Marshall into the far corner.

Less than 60 seconds into the second half and Smart again found the net as Dereham were caught napping.

City's third goal came in second half stoppage time when the lively Luke Daley fired the ball past Marshall.
