Due to injuries City faced table-topping Fulham with a side containing two Under-16s, Tom Adeyemi and David Stephens, in the starting eleven and a further two, Jed Steer & Josh Dawkin, on the bench.

At a sunny Colney City dominated the early play and were desperately close to taking the lead after six minutes when a long cross was headed back by Jordon Yong, Luke Daley crashed an effort against the bar and Ross Kelly headed the rebound just wide.

On 14 minutes Danny Kelly had a header from a well worked corner cleared off the line. Fulham then came more into the match and twice Steve Arnold denied them with good saves. Fulham’s best chance fell to Uwezu who headed wide from virtually on the goal line.

On 32 minutes Luke Daley was denied by the feet of the Fulham keeper Foderingham as he broke clear.

City finally took the lead in injury time in the first half. Skipper Paul McLean brought the ball out of defence, the move was continued by David Stephens and although David Cooper's cross was cleared McLean, who had kept going forward, picked up the ball on the edge of the box, beat two defenders and smashed the ball home from about twelve yards.

The second half had less goalmouth action than the first. City's defence kept a tight rein on the Fulham strikers and Steve Arnold was relatively untroubled in the home goal.

Indeed Norwich had more of the play and went close to increasing their lead with two long shots from Ross Kelly and Luke Daley again being twice denied by the keeper’s legs.

In the fourth minute of injury time Jordan Yong burst onto the ball in the box and appeared to be pulled back as he shot but the referee failed to give the penalty.

This was to cost City dear as a minute later a long free kick was bundled home by Joe Anderson to give Fulham a rather fortuitous point.
