Cave-Brown At The Double

NORWICH CITY UNDER 18's 3 FULHAM UNDER-18's 0

Bottom place Fulham were no match for David Williams' side as The Canaries ran out comfortable 3-0 victors at Colney on Saturday.

Two first half goals from Bally Smart and Andrew Cave-Brown were followed by a second half strike again from Cave-Brown who clearly enjoyed the right-wing role he took up for this game.

It took just seven minutes for City to open their account with a move that had the visitors defence chasing shadows. Patrick Bexfield flicked the ball on for Bally Smart to race clear of the defence before calmly slotting the ball home.

Captain Lee Howlett was the next to create an opening, this time for Chris Martin, but the Fulham keeper Corrin Brooks-Meade was quickly off his line to block the shot from the City striker.

With 28 minutes on the clock City doubled their advantage when they hit Fulham on the break.

A quick ball out of defence found Smart who in turn fed Martin down the left flank. The City striker then took the ball to the by-line before pulling it back for Cave-Brown to fire the ball home from the edge of the area to record his first goal for The Academy.

Smart could have sewn the game up shortly before the break when his pace again took him clear of the visitors back line but this time his shot across goal sailed the wrong side of the upright.

Martin went close twice shortly after the break. The first was an effort that went not so very far over the crossbar, the second after a short corner saw him crash a shot into the side-netting.

Fulham's only real effort of note came on the hour mark when City failed to deal with a corner and they were thankful to Michael Spillane who scooped the ball off the goal line.
Shortly after coming on as a substitute, Seb Muddel should have done better with a shot after Howlett had put him clear but with just four minutes left on the clock City put the game beyond reach when for the second time in the game Martin set up Cave-Brown who again finished in some style from just inside the area.
