IMPRESSIVE START CONTINUES

GORLESTON TOWN 0 NORWICH CITY UNDER-18's 4

City striker Chris Martin was the undoubted star of the show as David Williams' side continued their impressive start to their warm-up campaign, this time with a 4-0 victory over Ridgeons League outfit Gorleston Town at Emerald Park.

The City striker, who was on target against Portsmouth in midweek, again found the target, not once but twice, and to add to that had a helping hand in City's other two goals.

With Bally Smart still not quite fit there was only one extra face to the squad that faced Portsmouth and that was Matthew Halliday, who had travelled with the first team to Holland.

It took Martin just three minutes to open the scoring when he worked his way into a shooting position before finding the time to pick his spot, lifting the ball into the top right hand corner.

Seb Muddel

Despite the fact that City had the lions' share of the game it was not until the 34th minute that they increased their lead. Martin raced clear of the Gorleston defence to cross for Seb Muddel who crashed his shot in off the underside of the crossbar.

Just three minutes later and the Canaries were three to the good with Martin again showing his class.

Gorleston introduced eleven different players in the second half and made it more difficult for City.

However the Canaries did manage to score a fourth on 53 minutes when a clever ball from Martin created the opening for Robert Eagle to fire a low shot into the bottom right hand corner.
