Tom Adeyemi pulled a goal back for Norwich
Norwich City almost did the impossible to earn a share of the spoils in this Under-18 Anglian derby, after a barnstorming second half, having trailed by three goals inside the first thirty minutes.

In the opening exchanges, it was clear to see this was going to be a thrilling match for the watching spectators, who had turned out on a sunny and warm morning.

On just five minutes Ipswich attacked the Norwich goal, and only a full length diving save by Declan Rudd to his right palming the ball away, prevented Matt Daniels from opening the scoring for Ipswich.

Norwich responded two minutes later with a long range effort from Kris Renton, which saw the ball just clearing the crossbar.
On nine minutes a long ball from Dario Dumic picked out Josh Dawkin on the left, who manoeuvred in field before shooting where Lewis Ward in the Ipswich goal saved.

But Ipswich were looking dangerous and took the lead on twelve minutes when the ball fell kindly around the penalty area for Ronan Murray who whipped the ball over Declan Rudd to net.

Four minutes later Ipswich increased their lead.

Paul Murphy took advantage of Dario Dumic slipping just inside the centre circle to thread the ball to the forward advance of Ronan Murray who sped away before slipping the ball past Declan Rudd to score.

Norwich appeared to be shell-shocked as they seemed to struggle to come to terms with the pace of the game.

Ronan Murray then tried his luck from around thirty yards but Declan Rudd just about got his fingers to the ball, as the referee awarded Ipswich a corner kick.

In the twenty fifth minute, Norwich held there breath as a through ball split the defence for David Cawley to shoot clear on goal but Declan Rudd stuck out a boot to deflect the ball away.

Twenty eight minutes gone and a third Ipswich goal. Norwich, still under the hammer, appeared to have a thwarted another attack until Declan Rudd made a rare error by miscuing a clearance straight to Reggie Lambe who drilled the ball back towards an empty net.

Ronan Murray almost claimed his hat trick but Declan Rudd made another fine save to add to his total.

Norwich then responded in the second-half as they then took the game to Ipswich. The half was only two minutes old when Norwich was awarded a free kick out on the right flank. Sam Habergham delivered into the penalty area and as Ipswich failed to clear their lines Tom Adeyemi claimed the ball on the edge of the area before hammering home past Lewis Ward in the Ipswich goal.

A penetrating run from the right saw Korey Smith’s precise near post cross met by Tom Adeyemi whose diving header just went wide of the post.

On the hour what appeared to be an unfair challenge by Paul Murphy resulted in the Ipswich forward seeing a red card from the referee…..and reducing the visitors to ten men.

On sixty five minutes Norwich produced a terrific piece of play down the right. Jackson Ramm, linked well with Korey Smith, whose latest telling cross again caused the Ipswich defence problems as the ball dropped into the penalty area. Danny Kelly, powering forward, connected perfectly from around ten yards and was only denied by the legs of Lewis Ward who prevented a certain second goal for Norwich.

But on eighty two minutes, Norwich did eventually get the second goal. Another run down the right from Korey Smith, and as he again swung the ball into the Ipswich penalty area there was Kris Renton to power home the ball with a header from six yards beyond Lewis Ward.

Norwich continued the barrage but with three minutes of added time could not get the goal which would have warranted a point for them…therefore the ten men of Ipswich had did enough……….just to secure the win.
