David Williams saw his side continue their recent good form with a slender 1-0 victory away at Millwall on Saturday. Although the Canaries dominated the second-half they didn't break the deadlock until three minutes before full-time thanks to an outstanding performance from the Millwall keeper Tommy Crowther. Once again it was Chris Martin who scored the vital goal, taking his tally for the season to nine. Crowther was called into action early in the game to save from Robert Eagle, while moments later the Lions keeper was not troubled by a shot from Martin that went well wide. Andrew Cave-Brown twice came to City's rescue in what was other wise a quiet opening half when he first made an important block in the area and this was quickly followed by a diving header to clear a dangerous cross. |

The second-half continued in much the same vein, that is until the final twenty minutes when City took the game by the scruff of the neck. Fresh from his first International cap for Ireland Under-17's, Michael Spillane provided a teasing cross for Martin, who's first time shot was well saved by Crowther. There was even better to come from Crowther as he denied Martin for the second time with a quite outstanding save. Next it was the turn of Spillane to be frustrated by the in-form keeper when Crowther stood his ground to parry away a rising shot from the City midfielder. With 87 minutes on the clock City finally broke the deadlock. |

Cave-Brown made a surging run down the right flank and despite attracting the attention of three defenders; he still managed to pick out Jamie Eames who in turned crossed for Martin at the far post, with the City striker maintaining his composer to beat Crowther with a rasping shot. City Line-Up: Lewis, Cave-Brown, Jarvis, Gusterson, Halliday, Howlett, Eames, Spillane, El Ouargui, Martin, Eagle. Subs Not Used: Smart, Muddel, Bexfield. Top Canary: Andrew Cave-Brown. Bally Smart celebrated his recently announced scholarship with The Canaries when he fired Gary Butchers side into the lead at Millwall. However a disputed penalty for the home side spoilt what would have been an Academy double for Norwich. |
