After their disappointing 6-1 FA Youth Cup mauling at Sunderland on Tuesday night City's Academy side served up the perfect tonic at Colney. Ricky Martin gave a first start to Under-16 defender Blaine Hudson while Sam Habergham, who had a five-minute stint in goal at the Stadium of Light, was back in his more familiar position in defence. Norwich started brightly taking the game to the visitors and they opened their account on just 10 minutes after Jordan Yong was fouled and the Canaries were awarded a penalty. David Cooper took the spot kick only for the Lions' keeper Preston Edwards to make the save but Cooper reacted first to fire in the rebound. |

ONorwich continued to push forward and they extended their lead on 18 minutes when a Mark O'Toole sent a free kick to the near post that Tom Miller met perfectly to head home. Ten minutes before half time Martin was forced into a change when captain Paul McLean went off with a back injury which meant that Miller went into an unfamiliar centre half position. The visitors stepped the pace up after the break and it needed a good save by Canaries keeper Jed Steer to deny Ikenna Ofoche who cut in from the right. With 62 minutes on the clock City scored their third goal when Ross Kelly split the Millwall defence with a delightful through ball to Luke Daley who rounded the keeper before slotting the ball home. City controlled the game for the remainder of the half. |
