A penalty just ten minutes into the game was enough to send City's Under-18 side to their third consecutive home defeat at Colney on Saturday. After both Arsenal and Aston Villa left the City training ground with all three points in recent weeks, it was felt that David Williams' side might get back to their winning ways against the young Lions but, despite the fact that City had an all-professional attacking line up in the shape of Danny Crow and Ryan Jarvis, they failed to break down the Millwall rearguard. It was indeed something of a surprise to see Jarvis Snr. in the starting line up after Crow had been partnered up front for most of the season by schoolboy Seb Muddel. If the Colney regulars were hoping for plenty of goalmouth action they certainly got it after just ten minutes, unfortunately for City it was at their expense when Mark Quigley was fouled inside the area after he had left a couple of Canary defenders in his wake. |

The Millwall striker picked himself up and dusted himself down before stepping up to fire the visitors into the lead. Ryan Jarvis created an opening at the other end but after he was forced wide by Alan Brooks in the Millwall goal he could only send in a deep cross that beat everyone. Shortly after and following a corner Jarvis did get a nice touch that looked to be heading into the net; that is until Michael Boswick managed to get an outstretched leg to the ball and clear his lines. As ever the industrious Crow was everywhere and shortly before the break he forced Brooks into a save from a free-kick. City kicked off the second-half and almost drew level when a dangerous cross from Nicky Howell sailed just inches past Robert Eagle at the far post. |

The Canaries were enjoying the lion's share of the play, but full credit to Millwall as they reduced City to long range efforts with both Jarvis and Crow trying their luck, but neither of them failed to trouble Brooks. Quigley thought he had doubled his and Millwall's score with a powerful header, but Shane Herbert pulled off the save of the game turning the ball over for a corner. In the end City ran out of ideas and indeed it was Millwall who came closest to adding to the score-line when Joe McDonnell sent a rising shot inches over Herbert's crossbar. City Line-Up: Herbert, Cave-Brown, Rossi Jarvis, Fisk, Halliday, Gusterson, Howell [Martin 75], Howlett, Crow, Ryan Jarvis, Eagle. |
