City's Academy game against Millwall ground to a halt some 2 1/2 hours before kick-off when David Williams and his side found themselves stuck on the M11 for over five hours on Saturday following the closure of the motorway after an accident between Harlow and the M25 junction.

It became apparent even as early as 10 o'clock that the team would not be able to make the scheduled midday kick-off and so Academy Manager Ricky Martin contacted his counterpart at Millwall to inform him of the news.

This then left the team the simple task of returning to Colney, which was easier said than done as the team coach was not able to turn round at Harlow and head back up the motorway until 3pm.

There was an added problem in the shape of Andrew Cave-Brown, who was to join up with the Scottish Under-19 squad at Gatwick after the game, prior to flying out to Spain for the La Manga tournament.
Andrew was duly despatched to Cambridge railway station by taxi when the coach stopped at Four Wentways as the rest of the lads wished him well as he heads for a week in the sun.

City Team that was set to face Millwall: Arnold, Gusterson, Eagle, Cave-Brown, Strang, Howlett, Eames, Bexfield, Martin, Muddel, Smart.

Subs. Fisk, El Ouargui, Daley.
