City Start With Win Over Norwich

NORWICH UNITED 2 NORWICH CITY UNDER-18's 3

A goal ten minutes before full-time from Luke Daley saved City's blushes as they were taken down to the wire at Plantation Park on Saturday against Norwich United in their first pre-season friendly of the season.

City went into the half-time interval two goals up.

The first came after just five minutes from trialist Victor Mensah, while the second came with virtually the last kick of the half when Damon Lathrope left the United keeper rooted to the spot with a delightful free-kick.

To be fair to the United stopper, he had an outstanding first-half producing a string of fine saves that kept the home side in touch at the break.

Just five minutes after the interval United pulled a goal back, while ten minutes later they were back on level terms with a header from former Academy scholar Danny Self.

Self was one of three former City players in the United line up - with both Coren Hardy and former Canary favourite Cedric Anselin playing the first 45 minutes.

City failed to get into their stride in the second half but Daley came to their rescue ten minutes before time with a cross come shot that sailed into the far corner.
City Line-Up (First-Half): Arnold, Matthews, O'Toole, Miller, McLean, Lathrope, Byrne, R.Kelly, Renton, Mensah, Yong.
