U18 Match Report - 06.03.10

Portsmouth Under-18s 0 Norwich City Under-18s 1

Youngsters win

City’s Academy side made the long trip to the south coast on Saturday where they took on Portsmouth. Despite the fact that Ricky Martin named a very young side that contained four Under-16 players, the Canaries came away with all three points.

The only goal of the game came in the first half with Matthew Ball finishing from just outside the area after some great build up play from Norwich.

City might have added to the goals in the first-half but some good goalkeeping from the Pompey keeper and a couple of missed opportunities from The Canaries saw Norwich take a one goal advantage into the break.

Chances were few and far between after the break, but City still held the upper hand. The win keeps the pressure on Arsenal who top the table with City and Crystal Palace not far behind.

Next weekend Spurs are the visitors to Colney.
