Canaries Share Points With Royals

READING UNDER-18's 0 NORWICH CITY UNDER-18's 0

As far as 0-0 draws are concerned, this was an entertaining game as City's Academy Under-18 side extended their unbeaten run to three games.

After shading the first 45 minutes, City found themselves having to defend in numbers after the break but with yet another Man of the Match performance at centre-half from Andrew Cave-Brown, City's keeper had to make just one real save.

With a strong crossfield wind greeting both teams The Canaries could almost have thought that they were at their own training ground of Colney as the game got underway.

It was the visitors who had the first attempt on goal when a Jamie Eames cross was met by Bally Smart, but the City winger failed to get any power behind his header.

There was an anxious moment in the Canaries defence when they failed to deal with a corner allowing Liam Marum an overhead kick that was just inches over the crossbar.

City tried to get the ball down and play in the difficult conditions and when they did Reading found themselves under pressure.

It needed a good save from home keeper Ben Hamer to deny Chris Martin who tried his luck with a low drive from 25 yards.

As the second period got underway Simon Church sent a shot over the bar for the home side, while moments later Nicholas Bignall burst into the area but his shot from a tight angle was wide of the near post.

Lewis then had to come to City's rescue, making a good save to deny Adam Bygrave, the defender running onto a through ball.

Schoolboy Tom Miller joined a City attack and he tried his luck from the edge of the area but his shot sailed over the crossbar.

Again City tried their luck on the break when Smart sent a shot across goal that was only inches wide of the far post.

David Williams made a couple of late changes, introducing Andrew Fisk and Luke Daley as Norwich dug in to earn a well deserved share of the points.
