There were goals galore at Colney on Saturday when, in what was their final home game of the season, City's Academy side came from two goals adrift to take a share of the points against Reading. Reading were quickly out of the blocks and Matthew Ball had to be alert to make a last gasp tackle as the Royals threatened the City goal. The visitors' early pressure paid dividends on ten minutes when City failed to react to a short corner routine that saw Craig Tannor head home. Reading continued to push forward and a combination of Remi Matthews and Remy Gordon prevented Ricky Martin's side from going further behind. At the other end Josh Dawkin saw a shot blocked while Danny Kelly had a header cleared off the line. With five minutes to go before the break Reading got their second with a simple tap in from Harry Harding. Just sixty seconds later Norwich pulled a goal back through Richard Brindley with a superb twenty yard effort to add to the similar effort he scored against Charlton just three days before. It took Reading less than a minute after the break to restore their two goal advantage after a defensive mix up saw Jake Taylor find the net. City reduced the arrears on 53 minutes with Brindley striking another pile driver this time from 25 yards that had Reading keeper Simon Locke beaten all ends up. The game could have gone either way but with just five minutes left to play it was Norwich who got the vital goal with Dawkin heading home in what was a memorable end to the home campaign. City Line-Up: Matthews, Osemwegie, Gordon, Ball [Jones, 57], Francomb, Florence, Clarke [Oakley, 45], Brindley [Drmola, 78], D.Kelly, S. Kelly, Dawkin. Subs Not Used: A.Stephens, Dobbs. Norwich City Man of the Match: Richard Brindley. |
