It was certainly a good day to be a Canary supporter at Colney on Wednesday with all four Academy sides that were in action recording wins. The Under-18's got the ball rolling with a 3-2 victory over Rushden and Diamonds. City had to wait until the 40th minute to open the scoring when Danny Crow curled a free kick round the Rushden wall. Their lead was short lived however when with what was the last kick of the half the visitors drew level when Shane Herbert was beaten with a fiercely struck shot from the tightest of angles. Just one minute into the second half and Crow was on target again, yet another curling effort although this time it was from open play. |

With fifty-one minutes on the clock Danish trialist Asmat El Ouargui scored his second goal in as many games to extend City's lead. Danny Crow should have recorded his hat-trick but his penalty kick was well saved. The visitors pulled a goal back on 75 minutes, which meant an anxious last quarter of an hour as David Williams' side held on to record the win. City Line-Up: Herbert, Cave-Brown, Smith, Blackburn, Halliday, Osborne, Howell, Howlett, Crow, Weihrauch, Eagle. Subs (All used): Willis, Fisk, El Ouargui. |

Meanwhile the Under-16's recorded a 4-2 victory over Rushden and Diamonds with the City goals coming from Adam Mills [2], Seb Muddel and Andrew Howell. Later in the evening, Danish side Brondby were the visitors at Under-12 and Under-14 level. City recorded a 6-1 victory in the younger age group, while the Under-14's ran out 2-1 winners. While there are no games over the next few days at Colney, three age groups (the U10's, U12's and U14's) will be competing in the Watford tournament with FONCY actively involved sponsoring the travel arrangements. |
