UNDER-18's MAKE THEIR POINT

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR UNDER-18's 2 NORWICH CITY UNDER-18's 2

Despite the fact they gave away a two-goal lead, Saturday's draw at Spurs for David Williams' side will be seen as a point gained rather than two points lost.

With two schoolboys starting the match and a further two introduced as substitutes, this result at Spurs Lodge was a good performance, even more so after the below par displays in their opening games against Leeds United and Huddersfield Town.

After a slow start the game burst into life on 15 minutes when Lee Blackburn tested Fawcett in the Spurs goal with a 25-yard effort.

Just three minutes later City took the lead with a sweetly struck shot from Robert Eagle after some good build up play involving Seb Muddel and Nicky Howell, who might have tried a shot himself but instead fed in Eagle.

Danny Crow

Shane Herbert

City were certainly having the better of the play and they extended their lead on 22 minutes when Danny Crow was brought down just on the edge of the D and while the Spurs defence were sorting out their wall, Crow calmly side footed the ball home.

After City had dominated the first thirty minutes, the home side finally got their game together as they pulled a goal back on 38 minutes.

The City defence failed to deal with a cross, allowing Claude Senla the time to bring the ball down and beat Shane Herbert from just inside the box.

Herbert came to City's rescue moments later to deny Stevens while at the other end Andrew Cave-Brown fired a shot over the bar after a great run forward.
City needed to keep it tight for the opening period of the second half but it was not to be as Spurs drew level on 50 minutes when Andy Barcham had the easiest of tap ins from close range after some excellent play from Tom Welch.

Chances came and went at both ends with Fawcett saving well to deny substitute John Bell and then Danny Crow his second, while at the other end Spurs spurned a couple of good chances.

In the end a draw was fair result to what was a thourougly enjoyable game.
