Spurs left Colney on Saturday with all three points in a game that City should have wrapped up before the interval, but they failed to capitalise on their possession in the first half and were a poor second to the visitors after the break. Norwich started the game brightly forcing four corners in as many minutes. The final corner led to a goalmouth scramble with the ball breaking to Ryan Oakley, but from ten yards his rising shot through a group of players cannoned off the crossbar. The lively Josh Dawkin saw a shot saved by Spurs keeper Jordan Archer, while moments later Tyree Clarke saw a goal bound effort blocked. Dawkin was again denied by Jordan but it was Spurs who almost opened the scoring somewhat against the run of play when City were caught on the break and with keeper Remy Matthews beaten, it was left to namesake Remy Gordon to clear the ball off the line. There were loud shouts for a penalty from the Spurs player’s moments later but referee Mr. Francis was perfectly placed to wave play on. Archer again denied Dawkin, this time however he could only half save the Canary wingers effort and the loose ball was cleared off the line. Moments before the break Matthews made a good save from a Dean Parrett free kick to keep the scores level at the break. Spurs looked much more purposeful after the break and it needed a clearance from David Stephens to deny them an early second half goal, but with 55 minutes on the clock they finally broke the deadlock when they hit City on the break, Parrett doing all the work for Jake Nicholson to get the final touch. Ricky Martin changed things around, pushing Danny Kelly up front but it was Spurs who went onto extend their lead on 68 minutes when City were caught napping at the back, allowing Kudos Oyenuga the simplest of tap-ins. Norwich tried to force themselves back into the game with Danny Kelly having a shot saved and shortly before the final whistle captain George Francomb saw a shot go just wide of the target.
