Norwich City, who had a fine thirty minute opening spell, were sunk by a three goal burst from Tottenham Hotspur’s Daniel Hutchins inside fifteen minutes, including two goals within sixty seconds in the closing stages of the first-half. In the first five minutes Declan Rudd produced a good save from Jon Obika as he burst clean through, the keeper blocking the goal bound effort with his legs. On eight minutes Luke Daley attacking the Tottenham rearguard, played the ball inside to Ross Kelly, whose shot flew wide of the far post. Norwich were pressing well and almost took the lead on nineteen minutes. The Tottenham defence were unable to deal with a corner from Damon Lathrope and Paul McLean’s well directed header was cleared off the goal line. |

Norwich’s play and attacking display with Daley on the right and Young on the left were effective but on twenty one minutes Norwich fell behind. Declan Rudd initially produced two class saves before finally being beaten from a follow up by Jon Obika. Norwich hit back on twenty nine minutes, after forcing a corner. Damon Lathrope sent in the flag kick, again Tottenham could not deal with it, and the ball eventually fell to Paul McLean who swivelled inside the packed penalty area to squeeze the ball low past Lee Butcher to net. Norwich were passing the ball around and believed they could get something from this game, but unfortunately as it would happen, Tottenham produced a killer touch that turned the match on a sixpence. |

Tottenham broke clear on the right with the Assistant Referee keeping his flag down despite a seemingly offside position, and as the ball came into the Norwich penalty area, Daniel Hutchins slide the ball home. Within moments a similar break away from the left and although Declan Rudd did well to deal with the ball he could not prevent Daniel Hutchins from again heading in from close range. Norwich replied with Jordan Young firing over the crossbar, which was swiftly followed up by a strike from Damon Lathrope, for which Lee Butcher in the Tottenham goal dived full length to glove the ball around the post. But Tottenham again made another dent in the Norwich defence on forty four minutes from another burst from the right and David Hutton finished off. Within a minute of the second-half starting, Norwich allowed Daniel Hutchins to advance before unleashing a low thirty yard drive which beat Declan Rudd, inside his low right hand post. Tottenham then made it six five minutes later as Jon Obika headed home at the far post, and to notch his second goal. But Norwich kept playing their flowing soccer, and on fifty four minutes from a free kick Damon Lathrope swerving strike saw the ball beat Lee Butcher only to rattle the base of the upright. On the eighty third minute Jordan Young chased a through ball with only Lee Butcher to beat, but as Jordan toe poked the ball over him, the Tottenham goalkeeper managed to divert the ball away. Then with minutes remaining Yong had one final opportunity to reduce the deficit but his angled shot went just wide of the post. Overall the result did not reflect the Norwich performance. City Line-Up: Rudd, Matthews, O’Toole, Lathrope, McLean, D. Kelly, Daley, R. Kelly, Renton, Spillane, Yong. Subs (not used): Smith, Stephens, Habergham.
