Renton Strike Secures Draw

NORWICH CITY UNDER-18's 1 TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR UNDER-18's 1

City's Under-18 Academy side drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in a further pre-season friendly at Colney.

Before the match a minute's silence was held in memory of Academy coach driver Pete "Scouse" Street who passed away recently.

Spurs controlled the opening period of the match and were 1-0 up as early as the eleventh minute when David Hutton curled a quickly taken free-kick into the top corner of Steven Arnold's goal. When City did threaten it was generally from set-pieces.

The second-half saw a different picture with Norwich dominating proceedings as they searched for the equaliser.

Eventually City's efforts paid off with Kris Renton striking with a superb individual goal in the 68th minute. His effort must have pleased Kris's family who had stopped off at Colney (from Scotland of course) on their way to a family holiday abroad.

In the end it was a fair result as Ricky Martin again took the opportunity to test a few trialists, including Maximo from France who put in a good second-half display.

City Line-Up: Arnold, Matthews, Yong, R. Kelly, McLean, Josh Jirvandy, Byrne, Miller, Renton, Jack Dixon, Smart.

Subs (all used): Lathrope, Rudd, Daley, O'Toole, Maximo, Amo Amore, Cooper, D. Kelly, Smith
