City's Academy Unde-18 side continued their impressive start to the season with a well deserved share of the points against Watford at London Colney. Going a goal behind in the first half the Canaries hit back shortly before the break with a goal of some quality. With David Williams away on Welsh Under-21 duty it was Keith Webb who took the team while the Under-16's were also in action for their first game of the season with Dale Brooks at the helm. City made an explosive start with Chris Martin forcing James Hoad into a save inside the first ten seconds and then moments later the City marksman was up-ended in the penalty area with the referee's assistant signalling the foul. Adam Gusterson stepped up to take the spot-kick but Hoad guessed correctly to dive away to his right to make a good save. |

With seventeen minutes on the clock Watford opened the scoring when from a right wing cross Joe O'Cearuill rose above a static City defence to send a glancing header past Shane Herbert. Watford were having their best spell of the game and it needed some stout defending by City to keep them in touch with The Hornets. With just five minutes to go before the break City hit back with a goal to savour. Breaking out of defence Gusterson picked out Martin who raced across the half way line before finding Bally Smart. His pace took him to the by-line before he pulled the ball back for Andrew Fisk to strike a delightful first time effort into the top left hand corner. |

City had something of a let off early in the second half when the lively Peter Giambrone saw a shot come back off the post, while at the other end substitute Seb Muddel saw a short go just wide of the target after a great run. Alvin Quaye also came on as a second half substitute and he kept City on level terms with an outstanding tackle inside the City penalty area. City might have sneaked all three points late in the game when Robert Eagle was denied by the woodwork, much the same as he had been for the Reserves at Spurs a few days earlier. |
