After last week's below par performance in the 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Crystal Palace David Williams was looking for a marked improvement as the Canaries made the trip to West Ham this morning. In the event a 1-0 reversal was not a true reflection of the game with Williams insisting there was no improvement from last week's performance, and had it not been for some poor finishing from the Hammers it could easily have been a similar scoreline to the one against the Eagles seven days previous. The home side squandered several chances during the first half with Williams clearly not happy with the lack of a competitive edge from his young side. |

Against all the odds City found themselves still on level terms at the break, but just five minutes into the second half West Ham opened the scoring when a left-wing cross was slotted home at the far post by Ben Hunt. Williams introduced all three substitutes shortly after in an attempt to liven things up, and whilst they had a much better second period, they caused few problems for the Hammers. City Line-Up: Arnold, Cooper, Yong, Miller, Quaye (Lathrope 55), McLean, Eames, Bexfield, Byrne (Renton 55), Daley (Davey 55), Smart. Sub not used: O'Toole. Top Canary: Bally Smart. |
