Just like the first team, the Academy lads returned to Colney on July 1st after their summer break.

The induction evening for the seven new scholars took place on Friday evening when Ricky Martin and David Williams spelt out what is expected from the new scholars and what they can expect from the club. There were also a few words of welcome from Nigel Worthington who reaffirmed what he has been saying in the local press last week about the importance of work ethic.

The Academy season kicks off on August 20th with a trip to Derby, before then however there are four pre-season friendlies. The action starts on Tuesday 19th July with Portsmouth the visitors to Colney for a 1pm kick off. On Saturday 23rd David Williams takes his side to Gorleston, this time for a 3pm kick-off at Emerald Park. The following Saturday 30th Rushden & Diamonds will be at Colney for a 12pm kick-off, and finally on Tuesday 2nd August City entertain Bayer Leverkusen with a 1pm kick off. Once again FONCY will be sponsoring the Under-18's five-day training camp in Denmark that runs from August 5th to August 10th. The visit to Denmark will also include two friendly games yet to be arranged.
