As proceedings moved into Lyngby's main stadium for the final, City showed clear signs from early on that the previous day's semi-final had taken its toll. Neither side had created a clear chance before Copenhagen took the lead on 20 minutes. The Canaries tried to find their rhythm but a jinking run from Nicky Howell and shots from outside the area from Watts (over the bar) and Crane (turned round the post) were all that City had to show for their first-half efforts. |

The Canaries' now traditional second-half show of power failed to materialise in this, their fourth game in five days. The decisive point in the match came on 56 minutes. A KB striker shrugged off David Tyrie's illegal challenge as he broke through to score. Despite the goal the referee showed David his second yellow card of the match and at 2-0 down with ten men it was always going to be an uphill struggle for the boys in yellow and green. Copenhagen went 3-0 up while City were still regrouping after the sending off and Joe Lewis kept the score down with 2 good saves soon after. |

The introduction of Robert Eagle brought some life into the City attack and to their credit City never gave up. Adam Smith pulled a goal back with a long range free-kick and although KB scored a fourth City had the last word as David Chick scored from a corner in injury time. After the game Ady Boothroyd remained pleased with the performance after such a long week and rightly praised his young team for pulling two goals back after going down to ten men. City line up: Lewis, Willis, Chick, Crane, Tyrie, Smith, Howell [Eagle 72], Howlett, Clarke, Crow, Watts [J. Osborne 46]. Subs not used: A. Osborne, Fisk, Gusterson. |
