Canaries Make Their Point
NORWICH CITY U 19's 0 LEICESTER CITY UNDER 19's 0
City's Academy Under-19 side completed their home league programme on Saturday with a battling performance against Leicester City at Colney.
Adrian Boothroyd was without the services of four players who were all in the first team squad: Ian Henderson, Jason Shackell, Ryan Jarvis and Dean Sinclair. Additionally Damian Batt was injured and David Chick was suspended. Therefore, just as he had done last week, Boothroyd called on the services of 9 schoolboys, including Under-15's Rossi Jarvis and Andrew Fisk.
Both sides had early chances, with Stephen Dawson going close for The Foxes, while for City an Olli Willis cross evaded everyone in the penalty area.
Aaron Osborne produced a good save to save his blushes, after he cleared a ball straight to a Leicester striker. Moments later Osborne produced the save of the game when he moved swiftly to his left to make a one-handed save from a Gareth Campbell free kick.
City's best opportunity of the first half came when Danny Crow met an Adam Smith corner only to see his header loop just over the bar.
Chances were few and far between after the interval, nevertheless the Colney regulars were treated to some excellent football from both sides, as has been the case on many occasions this season.
City line up: A.Osborne, Willis, J.Osborne, Tyrie, Halliday [Rossi Jarvis 82], Crane, Smith, Blackburn, Clarke [Howell 64], Crow, Eagle [Fisk 66]
Subs not used: Herbert, Gil
