CITY SECURE SEMI-FINAL SPOT IN GOAL FEAST

LYNGBY UNDER 19'S 1 NORWICH CITY UNDER 19'S 5

Ady Boothroyd's side clinched their semi-final place in emphatic style with this convincing win over hosts Lyngby.

The Canaries didn't have it all their own way in the opening 15 minutes and indeed it was Lyngby who had the first clear chance when they struck the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the area.

A minute later city replied when Josh Clarke put a shot just past the post and on 19 minutes City took the lead. Clarke it was who put a rebound away after a break by Danny Crow.

City had to be content with a 1-0 half-time lead despite both Crow and Robert Eagle having chances to extend the lead.

After the break City continued to press against the tiring Danes. Josh Clarke increased the lead on 59 minutes. Having robbed a defender of the ball on the edge of the area he provided a great left-foot finish.

David Chick, standing in for Greg Crane at the back, ventured forward to score the third from a corner after 71 minutes. His own header was parried by the keeper, but Chick made no mistake with the rebound.

The hosts pulled a goal back in the 81st minute but five minutes later Danny Crow was on hand to stroke the ball home after a great run by Clarke. In injury time Clark completed his hat-trick with a tap-in from a Nicky Howell cross.

City deservedly reached the last four with this win. The draw later the same evening saw City paired with Charlton (last year's Lyngby Cup winners) in an all-english semi-final.

City line up: Lewis, Willis, J. Osborne, Chick, Tyrie, Smith, Howell, Blackburn, Clarke, Crow, Eagle [Howlett 64].

Subs not used: A. Osborne, Watts, Fisk, Gusterson.
