City's Academy side suffered their worst defeat of the season on Saturday when Millwall knocked six goals past them at Colney. The score-line could have looked even more embarrassing had it not been for two goals in injury-time from Adam Smith and triallist Shabazz Baidoo. The under-16 front-man was one of two triallists for Norwich, the other being Andrew Cave-Brown, an under-16 full back and a Scottish international. The goals came thick and fast with the visitors knocking in four before the break. The first came on just seven minutes when Andrew Fisk was penalised for handball, Mark Quigley scored from the spot. Baidoo then fired just wide of the target for City after some good build up play down the left wing involving Matthew Watts and Robert Eagle. |

On 25 minutes, with most supporters and the City bench appealing for offside, Quigley curled in Millwall's second. Immediately afterwards Baidoo again went close for Norwich, this time his shot striking the upright. Millwall scored their third goal on 33 minutes through Curtis Weston, before Anton Robinson made it four just two minutes before the break. With the advantage of a gale-force wind after the break, City may have fancied their chances of a Manchester City style comeback, but there was little chance of that when The Lions made it five on 55 minutes through Trevor Robinson. |

Ten minutes later and Norwich finally got on the score-sheet, the goal coming from the penalty spot through Lee Blackburn. But less than 60 seconds later, with the City defence AWOL, Millwall scored their sixth through Trevor Robinson. With 20 minutes left on the clock, Millwall were reduced to ten men when keeper Terry Masterson was shown the red card for a foul on Eagle. Despite the extra man, it took City until stoppage time to add to their score. First Smith rose above the visitors defence to head home an Eagle cross, and just moments later Baidoo slid the ball home to give the score-line some respectability. |
