LATE WINNER FOR LIONS AFTER CITY FIGHTBACK

MILLWALL UNDER 19's 3 NORWICH CITY UNDER 19's 2

City's Academy side went down to an injury-time winner at Millwall on Saturday, and this coming after Sammy Morgan's side had fought back to level the scores after being 2 goals adrift with just 12 minutes left on the clock.

The game however was over shadowed by a nasty injury to one of the Millwall central defenders that curtailed the first half after 44 minutes, with the interval also being extended to 25 minutes to allow the medical services to deal with what turned out to be a double break.

City worked hard throughout the first half, defending as a unit and giving the home sides plenty to think about on the counter attack.

It was a different story just four minutes into the second half when from a goal kick the ball was flicked on allowing a Millwall striker to go one on one with Joe Lewis, before the young Lion beat the City keeper.

Nicky Howell

Nicky Howell pulled a goal back against Millwall
Shortly after Millwall were two goals to the good when a poor clearance from Lewis saw the ball fall to a Millwall player who raced into the area to beat the City keeper.

With 12 minutes left on the clock City clawed themselves back into the game when a determined Lee Blackburn created the opening for Nicky Howell to lob the Millwall keeper.

Five minutes later and City were back on level terms with the best move of the game. City passed the ball out of defence with the ball eventually finding its way out to Olly Willis and his cross was met with a diving header by Robert Eagle.

City had the bit between their teeth and went out looking for the winner but they fell to a sucker punch deep in stoppage time when they allowed a Millwall player to run from the half way line to beat Lewis with a rising shot.

City Line-Up: Lewis, Willis, Watts, Halliday, J Osborne, Howell, Howlett, Sinclair (Fisk 70), Blackburn, Smith, Crow (Eagle 45).
