Three Goals And Three Points For The Villa

NORWICH CITY U 19's 0 ASTON VILLA UNDER 19's 3

Three second-half goals from Aston Villa saw City's Academy side come out second best, in what was their penultimate home game of the season. City could count themselves unlucky with the first goal, which took a deflection past Shane Herbert, who was making his first start for The Academy side, but Villa added a second 5 minutes later it was all over for the Canaries. To make matters even worse they were reduced to 10 men shortly after, when defender David Chick was shown a straight red for dangerous play.
Villa, who are only 4 points behind league leaders Arsenal, were without the services of Luke Moore, who along with City striker Ryan Jarvis is away on international duty with the England Under-17 squad.
City were let off the hook as early as the second minute, when Amadou Kouman fire a shot across the Canaries' goalmouth.
Dean Sinclair and Adam Smith went close for Norwich, while Ian Henderson thought he had opened the scoring shortly before the break when he headed home a Smith free kick, only to see the Assistant Referee with his flag aloft to signal offside.
It took Villa just 5 minutes after the break to open their account, when Kouman saw his shot deflected over a stranded Herbert. Just 5 minutes later, the visitors extended their lead with Kouman getting the final touch after Peter Hynes headed the ball on from a corner.
Chick got his marching orders on the hour mark, and then just 5 minutes later Villa completed the scoring when Hynes was put through to fire the ball beyond Herbert.
Late in the game Adrian Boothroyd introduced City's Under-15 keeper Joe Lewis for his first Under-19 game, and then in injury time substitute Josh Clarke almost scored a consolation goal for City but Villa keeper Wayne Henderson made a good save.

City line up: Herbert [Lewis 85], Batt, Willis, Crane, Chick, Sinclair, Howell [Clarke 57], Blackburn [Howlett 75], Henderson, Crow, Smith.
Subs not used: Eagle, J.Osborne

Top Canary: Damian Batt.
