ANOTHER BLACKBURN DOUBLE SEALS VICTORY AGAINST HORNETS

WATFORD UNDER 19's 2 NORWICH CITY UNDER 19's 4

City's Academy side picked up their first away win of the season at Watford on Saturday and extended their unbeaten run to four games.

After going a goal behind against the Young Hornets, City took the sting out of their tails with two goals from the in-form Lee Blackburn, one from Greg Crane with the fourth coming via an own goal.

Aaron Osborne was making his first appearance of the season and he was quickly called into action, making two saves in the opening 15 minutes.

However, there was little the Canaries keeper could do to prevent the home side taking the lead on 34 minutes, when a free-kick took a wicked deflection.

City were soon back on level terms when, with just 5 minutes to go before the break, Blackburn turned an Adam Smith corner into the net from 12 yards.

Into the second half and Adrian Boothroyd's side took the lead their play deserved when Crane curled a 25-yard free-kick into the top corner.

City were giving their hosts a torrid time and on 71 minutes Blackburn scored the goal of the game when he rose above the Watford defence to meet a David Tyrie free-kick and send a powerful header crashing into the net. This takes Blackburn's goals total for the season to 6 plus 1 for Keith Webb's Reserves.

City added a fourth when a Watford defender was forced to turn a Danny Crow cross into his own net whilst under pressure from Smith.

Smith had been forced into a striker's roll for the match with Josh Clarke out with a knee injury.

Boothroyd was not pleased with Watford scoring a late consolation goal, however on the overall performance he must have been quietly satisfied.

City must now defend their 100% home record against West Ham next Saturday. Remember it was the Hammers who knocked City out of last years F.A. Youth Cup, and so clearly there is a score to settle. Why not get along to Colney on Saturday where kick off time is 11am.

City Line-up: Osborne, Batt, Chick [Watts 76], Crane, Tyrie, Willis, Blackburn, Fisk [Howlett 71], Eagle [Howell 65], Crow, Smith.
