HAMMERS BURST YOUNG CANARIES' BUBBLE

NORWICH CITY UNDER 19's 2 WEST HAM UNITED UNDER 19's 5

City's Academy side not only lost their 100% home record to West Ham on Saturday, they lost it with a vengeance, allowing The Hammers to come from a goal behind at the break and seemingly offering little resistance as the visitors crashed in 5 goals in just 15 frantic minutes.

City opened the scoring on 17 minutes, but not before David Tyrie somehow made a remarkable clearance off the line from Greg Pearson.

City's goal came after an excellent run and cross from Damian Batt, picking out Lee Howlett at the far post who finished from close range.

The Canaries failed to take further of advantage of the strong wind, in fact it was the visitors who came closest to adding to the score line when Mark Noble struck the crossbar and Aaron Osborne made a good save from Marce Collington.

With the wind advantage it took West Ham just 3 minutes in the second half to draw level, Jemel Henry heading home a right wing cross. Just four minutes later City's defence went AWOL as Chris Cohen fired the visitors into the lead.

It went from bad to worse for The Canaries as Pearson ran from the half way line to fire the ball past Shane Herbert, who had come on to replace an injured Aaron Osborne.

On the hour mark Herbert found himself picking the ball out of the back of the net yet again, this time Noble was on hand at the far post to convert a low cross.
City then produced a glimmer of hope when another good run and cross from Batt found substitute Nicky Howell converting at the near post.

However any hope City might have had at getting back into the game vanished on 63 minutes when Liam Parrington headed home from a corner.

Prior to the game City had been sitting second in the table just 2 points behind the leaders Southampton, and it is The Saints who they face next with the long trip down to the south coast on Saturday.
