CITY GO DOWN 2-1 AGAINST THE DONS

WIMBLEDON UNDER 19's 2 NORWICH CITY UNDER 19's 1

A first half sending-off and then a second-half match winning penalty all added to another bad day at the office for City's Academy side at Wimbledon on Saturday. It was not all gloom however as two key players in the forthcoming F.A.Youth Cup against Bolton got in some valuable match practice after being sidelined through injury.

Both Jake Osborne and Matthew Halliday played prominent parts in the game, with Osborne adding another 60 minutes to the hour he played in last week's game against Charlton. Halliday played a full 90 minutes and picking up the Man Of The Match award just ahead of Joe Lewis.

Danny Crow

Danny Crow, scored his sixth Academy goal of the season on Saturday

City also gave a first start to striker Paul Atkins, an under 17 from Easton College, although any thoughts of him linking up with Danny Crow for the F.A.Youth Cup were quickly squashed by Sammy Morgan when he confirmed that Atkins had already played in the competition for Dereham Town and was therefore cup-tied.

For the opening 30 minutes in Saturday's encounter City were put under pressure by The Dons and that pressure finally paid dividends when Matthew Watts was given his marching orders for a professional foul. It remains to be seen if the central defender will now be suspended for the cup game at Carrow Road on December 1st.

Watts' red card also signalled the end of the game for Atkins, as he was substituted for Greg Crane who came on to fill the hole at the back. Shortly after this the home side took the lead when they scrambled the ball over the line following a corner.

It didn't get much better after the break when Wimbledon extended their lead, this coming from the penalty spot.

Far from dead however, City took the game by the scruff of the neck and pulled a goal back with a free kick from Danny Crow, his sixth goal of the season.

In the end it was Wimbledon who were happy to see the final whistle as The Canaries pushed forward looking for the equaliser.
