At the club’s Open Day Korey Smith picked up the FONCY Youth Player of the Season Award. On hand to make the presentation to Korey was Chairman John Landamore, Vice Chairman Roy Blower and committee members Colin Tovell and Richard Bland. In a season that has brought little cheer for City fans, the performance of the Academy in finishing second to Arsenal in the league was one of the few high points in the season. Korey of course played a major part in this, and while he was not available for all league games because he was involved with the first team, his performances in the Youth Cup were outstanding. The year finished on a personal high for Korey when Bryan Gunn handed him his first start in the final game of the season away to Charlton, and while the game will be remembered for all the wrong reasons for Korey to pick up the man of the match award on his first senior start we think shows he has a bright future at the club. Our thanks once again to David Gray who once again has kindly sponsored this award. |
