Norwich City Academy Manager Ricky Martin has informed FONCY that four members of the Under-16's squad have been offered two year scholarships when the 2007/2008 season gets underway in July. The four include goalkeeper Declan Rudd who hails from Diss. Declan has been with The Academy since he was an Under-9 and just last month he made his debut for the Under-18's in the home game against Millwall, this coming shortly after he made his England Under-16 debut in the Victory Shield against Scotland. Joining Declan will be central defender Danny Kelly, the younger brother of first year scholar Ross. Danny comes from Huntington and only joined Norwich when he was part of the squad that brought back the Foyle Cup from Ireland last year. |

Danny made his debut for the Under-18's last week when he picked up the man of the match award in the win over Fulham at Colney. Third in the quartet is striker Nick Davey who has been in the system at Colney for a couple of seasons. Nick comes from Wisbech and it was his goal that secured the win in the Foyle Cup. Nick has been involved with the U18's on three occasions this season and has even managed to get on the scoresheet. Completing the line up is full back David Cooper. |

David, who comes from Mildenhall, was spotted by Youth Developement Officer Colin Watts when he was an Under-12 and was on target to score the winning goal for the Under-16's against Chelsea a couple of weeks ago. In addition, David has made two starts for the U18's this season. Everyone at FONCY would like to congratulate all four lads on securing their scholarships with Norwich, and we wish them well for the future. Report and photos from John Landamore |
