18.05.03 - MEMORIAL MATCH NETS £1,000 FOR FONCY

FONCY Chairman John Landamore and Vice Chairman Roy Blower were on hand at City's final home game of the season to receive a cheque for £1,000 from two Norwich City supporters groups.

The Northern Canaries and their southern counterparts the Capital Canaries raised the money from a memorial game played to remember Chris Fox.
Chris was a good friend of both groups and they decided that when he sadly passed away last season they wanted to remember him in some way, and so the Northerns took on the Capitals at Colney.
The Northerns ran out winners but already plans are afoot for next season's re-match.

Both groups would like to thank Sammy Morgan and Ricky Martin for helping to stage the game. Meanwhile FONCY would like to thank both groups for their tremendous support.

18.05.03 - ENGLAND HAVE TO SETTLE FOR FOURTH

England Under-17's, including Ryan Jarvis in their line-up, had to settle for fourth place in the UEFA U17 Championships in Portugal on Saturday.

England lost 1-0 to Austria in the 3rd Place Play-Off, squandering several good chances in the process. It was a disappointing end to what had in general been a good tournament for the English lads.

14.05.03 - ENGLAND LATEST

Ryan Jarvis again started for England Under-17's today in their UEFA Championship semi-final aginst tournament hosts Portugal. Ryan played his part before being substituted 30 minutes before time with England leading 2-1. Portugal went on to get a last minute equaliser and win the subsequent penalty shoot-out.

England now face Austria (defeated 2-5 by Spain) in the 3rd Place match on saturday and miss out on a place in the World Finals in Finland in August.

14.05.03 - HENDERSON CALL-UP

Ian Henderson has made it a trio of England Youth call-ups for the Canaries at end of the season, having been asked to join the England Under-18 squad for the "Torneo Internacional de Futbol Cidade de Lisboa" in Lisbon, Portugal from June 4th - 9th. Ian's first international call up sees him join Joe Lewis (Under-16) and Ryan Jarvis (Under 17), who have both represented their country recently.

14.05.03 - DRAW MADE FOR THE NORTHERN IRELAND MILK CUP

Everton manager David Moyes and England star Wayne Rooney were on hand to make the draw for the group stages of the Northern Ireland Milk Cup that takes place on July 18th - 26th.

For the fourth consecutive year FONCY will be supporting the Academy Under-15 side, who are set to play Cherry Orchard in their opening game.
Their next opponents are County Down, before they meet Altas of Mexico in the final group game.
The Mexicans are no strangers to the Canaries as City were beaten by the Central American side in the Shield final last year.

Total cost to FONCY for the team to participate in this, the most important of youth team tournaments, will be in excess of £7,000.

11.05.03 - ENGLAND THROUGH IN PORTUGAL

Ryan Jarvis figured in England two final group games in the UEFA U17 Championship in Portugal. He came on as a substitute in the 0-0 draw against Italy on friday and started the 2-2 draw against Spain today. Jarvis was a key figure in England's second-half fight back after being 2-0 down against the Spaniards. Ryan hit a post in the lead up to the first goal and came close on a couple of other occasions before being taken off just before the end.

England now face hosts Portugal in the semi-finals on wednesday, with Spain and Austria contesting the second semi.

08.05.03 - JARVIS PLAYS IN PORTUGAL

Ryan Jarvis played for England in their opening match of the UEFA U17 Championship against Israel in Portugal yesterday. Ryan failed to get on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win but by all accounts put in a good performance despite suffering from a cold.

08.05.03 - A BUSY BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Last weekend saw the Academy season at Colney draw to a close and a busy weekend for FONCY with the Open Day on Bank Holiday Monday wrapping things up for the season.

At Colney the Under-15's won a friendly against St. Kevin's from Dublin 2-0. The season was wrapped up on sunday with games against Fulham at U14, U12 and U10 level. The last Academy action of the season will be on sunday when most age groups travel to West Ham.

At sunday's first team game John Landamore gratefully accepted a cheque for £1,000 from Northern Canaries and Capital Canaries, funds raised at their supporters match at Colney a few months ago.

Attention then moved to the Open Day. FONCY sold the final raffles tickets before the draw at the end of the afternoon and staged our now traditional auction of memorabilia. A full report on the event will follow here in a couple of days, but John Landamore was pleased to report on the day that a total of around £12,000 had been raised from the two events.

FONCY and it's website will not be idle during the summer, so please check in regularly here for updates on Academy and FONCY activities and plans.

Norwich will be keen to add Ryan Jarvis to the list of young pros once he has reached his 17th birthday in the summer. Congratulations go to all the boys from FONCY for their achievement.

01.05.03 - ACADEMY STARS STEAL THE SHOW AS RESERVES FINISH SEASON IN STYLE

Keith Webb's Reserve side brought the curtain down on another entertaining season of Avon Insurance Combination games at Carrow Road on Wednesday night.
Southend United were the visitors as the sides found themselves level pegging at a goal a piece at half time.
The game swung in favour of the Canaries after the break with three Academy players getting on the scoresheet. Adam Smith was first to find the net with a well hit shot from just outside the area that beat former Norwich scholar Danny Gay down to his right.
Lee Blackburn who came on as a substitute for Paul McVeigh scored a delightful goal steering his header well wide of Gay. For both first year trainees these are their first goals at Reserve team level.
The scoring was completed by Danny Crow, fresh from his hat-trick against Stoke Under-17's on Saturday. Crow raced onto a through ball and kept his composure while under pressure to pick his spot in the far corner.
City ran out 4-2 winners with one of the Shrimpers goals being scored by former Canary Daryl Sutch.
