26.07.03 - YOUNGTSERS WITH MIXED FORTUNES IN KB-AUDI CUP
City's two Academy sides competing in the KB-AUDI Cup in Copenhagen this weekend started the tournament with mixed fortunes yesterday. The Under-13 side beat Landskrona 11-0 before being brought down to earth with a 1-1 draw against Aalborg. The Under-14's found it more difficult going and suffered two 0-3 defeats against Esbjerg and hosts KB.
The tournament continues today and tomorrow with group and final round games.
26.07.03 - U-15'S FINISH NORTHERN IRELAND VISIT WITH PENALTY SHOOT OUT WIN
City's Academy Under-15 side yesterday finished their diappointing week in Northern Ireland with a 4-2 penalty shoot out win against County Tyrone, having drawn their final game 0-0. The previous day they had lost 2-1 to Swindon Town, Seb Muddel scoring the Canaries goal. Although results didn't always go their way the youngsters will have learnt a lot from their experiences in the Milk Cup.
24.07.03 - LAST MINUTE EQUALISER DENIES UNDER 19's
NORWICH CITY UNDER 19'S 1 WOLVES UNDER 19'S 1
A goal in stoppage time robbed City of their 100% record at Colney this afternoon. In what was a highly entertaining game Ashley Vincent levelled the scores for the visitors after Josh Clarke had given the Canaries the lead.
There was no score at the break thanks to some outstanding saves from both Carl Ikeme and City's Joe Lewis, and with England goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence in attendance he could not have failed to be impressed with what was on offer.
City opened the scoring on 67 minutes when a cross to the far post from Olley Willis was headed back into the danger area by Danny Crow, allowing Josh Clarke to send in a spectacular diving header.
Just when it seemed City had secured the win Vincent broke clear for Wolves, crashing the ball in off the inside of the upright.
City line up: Lewis, Willis, Chick, Crane, Tyrie, Smith, Howlett [Gusterson 80], Blackburn, Clarke [S.Batt 80], Crow, Eagle [Watts 65]
Subs not used: Halliday, Fiske, J.Osborne
Top Canary: Lee Blackburn.

24.07.03 - CITY GO DOWN TO CHARLTON IN LIMAVADY
Following yesterday's 3-0 plate competition quarter-final defeat against Charlton, City's Academy Under-15 side now face two games in two days to decide placings in the competition. Today they play Swindon Town in Coleraine (4pm kick-off) with a final match on friday against either County Tyrone or NK Factor (Slovenia).

22.07.03 - CITY BOW OUT OF MILK CUP
City's Academy Under-15 side could only manage a 1-1 draw against Atlas of Mexico today in a game they needed to win and thereby failed to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Northern Ireland Milk Cup. Jamie Clarkson was again the Canaries scorer, following on from his goal in the opening match of the competition.
Norwich now go into the quarter-finals of the BT Trophy - the plate competition below the Milk Cup. Their opponents tomorrow in Limavady (3pm kick-off) are Charlton Athletic, well known to the Canaries from their Academy matches. Coincidentally, Charlton were also the opposition at the same stage last year - a game that City won on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
21.07.03 - CITY HELD BY COUNTY DOWN
After their opening game victory over Cherry Orchard on Saturday City's Academy Under-15 side were today held to a goalless draw by County Down, the game being played at The Warren, Portstewart.
City were without the services of captain Rossi Jarvis, who suffered a hamstring injury in the opening game.
Nevertheless both Andrew Howell and Aradavan Djahansouzi did a sterling job at the heart of the defence.
The draw now means that to qualify for the quarter-finals the Canaries now need to beat Atlas of Mexico when the two sides meet at Rugby Ave. Coleraine on Tuesday, the Central American side having beaten Cherry Orchard 3-0 today. To give added spice to the game it was Atlas who beat City in last year's Plate Final.
20.07.03 - CITY CAPTAIN INJURED AS UNDER 15'S WIN OPENING GAME IN MILK CUP
City's Under-15 Academy side won their opening game against Cherry Orchard in Northern Ireland yesterday but the win came at a high cost with skipper Rossi Jarvis having to be taken to hospital with what turned out to be ligament damage. Quite what the extent of the injury is unclear, but with City back in action on Monday, it looks like the game will come to soon for Rossi, the younger brother of Ryan Jarvis.
The only goal of the game came during the first half with Jamie Clarkson the Canaries scorer.
20.07.03 - SMITH AT THE DOUBLE AS UNDER 19'S CONTINUE THEIR UNBEATEN RUN
With Danny Crow, Damian Batt and Greg Crane all travelling with the first team to Peterborough yesterday, it was a young Academy side that took on Colchester United at Colney. Nevertheless Adrian Boothroyd's side continued their unbeaten run with a 3 - 1 victory over The U's.
To be fair to the visitors they had the better of the first half and might have gone in at half time a couple of goals up, but they could not find a way past an in form Joe Lewis who was standing in for an injured Aaron Osborne.
City took the lead 5 minutes after the break with a quite outstanding strike from Adam Smith. Just on the outside of the centre circle with his back to goal the Canaries midfielder turned to lift an unstoppable shot over Dean Gerjen in the Colchester goal.
Two minutes later and Smith and turned provider when his delightful free kick was met at the far post by Josh Clarke who side-footed the ball in off the underside of the crossbar.
The goals were coming thick and fast and just 3 minutes later the visitors pulled a goal back through Jamie Guy who raced clear to slot the ball under Lewis who, although he managed to get a hand to the ball, could not prevent it from finding the back of the net.
City had to wait until injury time to score their third. Although there was no Damian Batt in the side it was his brother Shaun, currently on trial with the Academy, who made the goal when he won the ball out on the right wing before cutting in to cross the ball for Adam Smith who beat the keeper and a defender before sliding the ball home.
City line up: Lewis, Willis, Chick, Tyrie, J.Osbourne [Halliday 88], Howlett, S.Batt [ Smith 45], Eagle, Watts [Blackburn 45], Clarke [Watts 80], Howell [S.Batt 65]
Sub not used: Gusterson.
(Please note that as this was a friendly both Watts and Batt were allowed to be re-used as substitutes.)
Top Canary: Joe Lewis.

10.07.03 - UNDER-19's DRAW AT DEREHAM
Norwich City Under-19's opened their pre-season programme with a useful workout at Dereham Town last night. City fielded a mixed squad of eighteen players with multiple substitutions in the second half, which seems to be the norm for pre-season matches.
It did not take long for the game to come alive with a mix-up in the city box allowing Dereham Town's Neil Mcguire to score after just three minutes.
Not flustered by this City picked up their game with an Adam Smith free-kick forcing a good save from Parsons. Danny Crow looked particularly impressive and it was his cross following good work down the left hand wing which led to Josh Clarke shooting under the keeper to bring the game level. On 43 minutes Dereham went ahead again when a deflected shot from Jason Parr looped over Aaron Osborne to make the score 2 - 1 to the hosts.
Half-Time 2-1
Dereham Town fielded a completely different eleven for the second half whilst city made six changes. Kevin Johnson missed a good opportunity after being put through by Batt whilst at the other end Osborne made an excellent save.
On 63 minutes good work by Batt and a cross by Crow allowed Kevin Johnson to make up for his earlier miss to put city level. Opportunities for both sides to win the game came on a regular basis but to be fair a draw was the correct result.
Full-Time 2-2
City squad: A.Osborne, Batt, Chick, Tyrie, Halliday, Blackburn, Smith, Howlett, Watts, Clarke, Crow, Willis, Crane, J.Osborne, Johnson, Howell, Eagle, Jermy.
07.07.03 - ENGLAND LOSE OUT TO THE US
Academy keeper Joe Lewis could not prevent England Under-17's going down 2-1 to the USA this evening in the host's opening match of the four team International Tournament at Notts County's Meadow Lane. Lewis will be pleased to have been first choice and had little chance with the goals in a game where England failed to gain the upper hand despite long periods of possession.
England's next game on thursday will also be a difficult test against Portugal before facing the might of Brazil on Sunday.
04.07.03 - DENMARK - A POPULAR DESTINATION

FONCY, who are again helping to fund the trip, wish both teams well on their adventure abroad.
