Norwich City's Under-19 side failed to bring anything back from their long trip to the North-East yesterday. The Canaries failed to make the most of their chances in an even contest and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 defeat. Danny Crow (left) was the City goalscorer. Top Canary was Olly Willis, who was a constant threat to Sunderland with his runs forward from right-back. Read the match report by clicking here or on the picture. |
30.08.03 - IT'S A GIRL!
Everyone at FONCY would like to congratulate Adrian Boothroyd and his wife Emma on the birth of a baby daughter, Cerys Mia.
Aidy is taking a few well deserved days holiday with the family and will not be travelling with Under-19's to Sunderland today. Assistant Academy Director Ricky Martin takes charge of the team for the trip to the north-east and will be looking for the side to continue their good start to the season after the home win over Barnsley last week.
30.08.03 - TRAVEL SPONSORSHIP PRESENTATION
FONCY Chairman John Landamore and committee member Colin Tovell were presented with a check for £4,000 during the half-time interval at last Tuesday's home game against Wimbledon. The cheque was presented by Austin Rust of Peachman Refrigeration and Roger Rought of Eyre Of Norwich and is to be used for the Under-19 Academy side's away travel for the current season.
"When FONCY was first formed back in 1996 one of the first things we sponsored was the Youth Team away travel" said John. "Over the next five years we were able to continue to sponsor that because of the support we received from Duffields Of East Anglia and Banham Poultry. Last season Austin and Roger took over that particular sponsorship and we are delighted that they have continued to support us again this season."

Joining the presentation party on the pitch were first year trainees Shane Herbert and Lee Howlett, who of course will both benefit from the sponsorship deal.

03.08.03 - SUCCESSFUL DENMARK TRIPS
The Academy Under-19 team returned home today having been beaten 4-2 by KB Copenhagen in the Lyngby Cup Final after a hard week of competition in Denmark. The high point of the competition was certainly the penalty shoot-out semi-final win against Charlton. Full reports and pictures from the tournament will be posted here this week as soon as they have been prepared.
Last weekend the Under-13's and Under-14's were also in Copenhagen for the KB-AUDI Cup. While the Under-14's found the competition hard going the Under-13's got to the final of their age group where they suffered their only defeat of the weekend against, coincidentally, KB Copenhagen.
