28.09.03 - YOUNG ACADEMY KEEPER ON THE BENCH AGAINST CRYSTAL PALACE
|
Fifteen-year-old keeper Joe Lewis became City's youngest ever player to make it onto the substitutes bench when he was drafted in to replace an injured Paul Crichton for Saturday's first team encounter against Crystal Palace at Carrow Road. As reported two weeks ago, Lewis came close to an appearance on the bench against Burnley when Robert Green was unwell prior to the match. City's number one recovered in time to play, even so it was a massive vote of confidence for Lewis from Nigel Worthington and that was reinforced on Saturday when he was drafted in to replace Crichton. With Tuesday night's home fixture against Reading looming it might come to soon for Crichton to recover, so it could be another day off school for Joe. |
