25.04.04 - GOOD WIN ENDS LEAGUE SEASON
|
Norwich won their final Under-19 Academy League game of the season 4-2 against Aston Villa at Colney on Saturday. A first-half blitz saw the Canaries score all four goals in the first-half after Villa had taken an early lead. The second-half was more subdued but this year's losing F.A. Youth Cup finalists could only pull one goal back to give City the win and sixth place in the final league table. For the full match report click here or on the picture right. The season isn't totally over yet though. Next Saturday an Under-17 side will travel to Ipswich for a friendly game. |

14.02.04 - MILLWALL U19 MATCH PREVIEW
![]() |
Norwich City Under-19's play their penultimate game of the Academy League season on Saturday when they travel to Kent to play Millwall at their Bromley training ground. The game was originally scheduled for last November but was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch. Sammy Morgan's team still have a lot to play for in their remaining games against Millwall and Aston Villa (date still TBA). Depending on their own and other results a placing of anywhere between 4th and 8th is still possible for the young Canaries in their Academy League Group table. Equally there is also a need to correct the damage done by Millwall at Colney in February when City fell to a heavy 3-6 defeat against the Lions. |
10.04.04 - CITY EFFORTS NOT ENOUGH AGAINST SAINTS
|
The Canaries lost their Under-19 Academy game against Southampton this Easter Saturday 4-1. The result flattered the Saints somewhat but City were always going to have a difficult time against the League winners. Danny Crow put Norwich ahead at the end of a first-half which saw the Canaries rewarded for their hard work. It was the striker's eleventh Academy goal of the season. The second-half saw the visitors pull ahead and two late goals made the score look worse than the young Canaries deserved. 10.04.04 - HONOURS EVEN AGAINST SCANDINAVIAN VISITORS
|
Lyngby of Denmark were the visitors to Colney on Good Friday for two friendly games at Under-14 and Under-15 level. With the lower age group losing 2-1 and the Under-15's winning 2-1 the honours were evenly balanced. Our roving reporter was again on hand to capture some interesting images of another busy day at the Academy. To see the photos click here or on the picture left. |
08.04.04 - SOUTHAMPTON UNDER-19 MATCH PREVIEW
|
Last Weekend saw the last full day programme in the Under-19 Academy season and most clubs are now close to completing their Under-19 schedule. Norwich do not fall into that category and after various postponements still have three games to play. The first of those sees Group winners Southampton visit Colney on Saturday morning (11am). The updated league table shows the Saints are now certain to enter the Academy League Play-Offs, while Norwich can improve their league position with good results from their remaining games. |

| Norwich will be looking to complete a significant double on Saturday - earlier in the season The Canaries inflicted the only Academy defeat of the season so far on Southampton in the game on the South Coast. Ryan Jarvis, in a rare Academy appearance, and Danny Crow scored for City in a 2-1 win. | |

08.04.04 - CHEQUE PRESENTATION The Stoke City first team home game saw John Landamore and Roy Blower receive a cheque for £2112, raised for FONCY by the Capital Canaries and Northern Canaries at their recent match at Colney in memory of Chris Fox. The now regular event was enjoyed by all, as well as raising significant funds for FONCY, for which we are very grateful. For a few more pictures from the event click here or on the picture. |
01.04.04 - LATEST LEAGUE TABLE / BUSY EASTER SCHEDULE
|
Norwich's Academy Under-19 defeat at Chelsea last week means that the updated league table doesn't make improved reading, but that will be of little importance to Sammy Morgan as his young side gain experience. This weekend they are without a game on the last day of full league action as their planned opponents Aston Villa take on Blackburn in a F. A. Youth Cup Semi-final. However there is still plenty of action at Colney to come with the Easter holidays approaching. Apart from extra coaching and Charlton Athletic bringing three younger age groups to Colney this sunday, a schedule of attractive looking friendlies has been arranged. |

On Wednesday 7th April danish side Hvidovre are the visitors at Under-16 level. Good Friday then sees Lyngby bringing Under-14 and under-16 sides to Colney. This continues the contact with the Danish club from just outside Copenhagen who Norwich visited for an Under-19 tounament last summer. Finally, a week later on Friday 14th Carniny Youth from Northern Ireland visit for three games in the younger year-groups. Add to that Easter Saturday's visit of Southampton in the Academy Under-19 League and it all adds up to a very full programme. |
