20.12.04 - JOE ON ENGLAND DUTY While the rest of his Academy colleagues are slowly winding down for a match-free Christmas break, Joe Lewis is away with the England Under-18 squad preparing for Wednesday's friendly against Scotland in Hartlepool. Joe is joined in the squad by Sunderland's Ben Alnwick and it remains to be seen which of the two keepers will appear between the posts for England on Wednesday. Joe will simply be happy to be involved after a long spell out with a broken thumb earlier this season. The game will be screened live on Sky Sports 1 (6pm kick-off). |

13.12.04 - BURNLEY MATCH PREVIEW Wednesday sees the Academy Under-18 side's final match of 2004 as they travel to Burnley for an F.A. Youth Cup 3rd Round tie (7.00pm kick-off). Looking at Saturday's draw with West Ham in the Academy League, David Williams looks set to include three or four schoolboys and it will certainly be a tough game for the Canaries. City will however take heart from Saturday's performance which pulled them off the bottom of their Academy group league table. The last time the two clubs met in this competition was in the 1995/96 season when City went through with a 2-1 win at Carrow Road, Damian Hilton and Wesley O'Connor (penalty) being the scorers. The team included Darren Kenton, Craig Bellamy and Adrian Forbes. |

08.12.04 - WEST HAM MATCH PREVIEW This Saturday sees the Academy Under-18 side welcome West Ham United to Colney (11am kick-off) for their last Academy League match before Christmas. Logically, the game also represents City's last chance to improve their league table position this year. A few weeks ago City lost 3-2 to The Hammers in London. With the Youth Cup tie against Burnley looming next week, it will be interesting to see whether David Williams rests his "over-age" third year players to get his youngsters "played in" for the long trip to Lancashire next week. |
