22.05.05 - FULL BAISIEUX TOURNAMENT REPORT We have now completed our report with photos on last weekends Under-14 tournament in Baisieux, France. The Norwich Academy with able to take part thanks to Clem Tompsett's generosity (see below). 19.05.05 - 2005 FONCY SPRING RAFFLE WINNERS The recent Open Day at Carrow Road saw the draw of the winners of this year's FONCY Raffle. Everyone at FONCY would like to thank all those fans who took part in this year's event. The total receipts from this year's raffle are well over £6,000. 19.05.05 - INTERNATIONAL UPDATE A quick update on the international scene. Michael Spillane continued his exploits with the Republic of Ireland Youth set-up this week with an appearance for the Under-17's in Paris in their rousing 1-0 win against the French team on tuesday evening. Michael was in action again this evening in a second friendly between the two sides in Chelles, with France this time turning the tables with a 1-0 win. Joe Lewis, meanwhile, will be joining the England Under-18 squad early in June for their friendly against Norway to be played on June 10th at Port Vale. |

19.05.05 - MATTHEW HALLIDAY FONCY PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Matthew Halliday has been awarded the FONCY Youth Team Player Of The Year Award. Matthew has had an excellent season playing 49 games for David Williams Under-18 side and Keith Webb's Reserve side, no other player at the club has made that many appearances over the past season. FONCY Chairman John Landamore and Vice Chairman Roy Blower were joined on the pitch by John's Granddaughter Hannah Chapman to make the presentation to Matthew during the half time interval at City's final home game of the season against Birmingham City. |
19.05.05 - UNDER-14's ACADEMY TEAM OF THE SEASON

At the final Academy Sunday of the season the Under-14's picked up the annual Des Holl Memorial Award. This award is made to the Academy side of the season in memory of Des who was a devoted supporter of The Academy, who along with his wife June was at Colney when ever possible to support the Academy. Unfortunately, June, who now lives in Dorset, could not be at Colney for this year's award that was made by FONCY Chairman John Landamore. Congratulations to the Under-14's and their coaches Ian Thornton and Dick Mills. |

19.05.05 - CLEM TOMPSETT SPONSORSHIP PRESENTATION

Long time Academy supporter Clem Tompsett has presented FONCY with a cheque for £1000 as sponsorship of the Academy Under-14 side in their recent trip to France to compete in the Baisieux tournament. Clem has supported FONCY since it was formed back in 1996 with teams travelling to Holland and Denmark thanks to his support. FONCY Chairman John Landamore and Vice Chairman Roy Blower joined Clem and Academy Technical Director David Williams on the pitch for the presentation that took place at the Birmingham City match. FONCY would like to take this opportunity to thank Clem for his continued support of The Academy. |

15.05.05 - UNDER-14'S FINISH SIXTH IN FRANCE The Academy had an Under-14 (born after 01.01.1991) squad at the Roger Heneman Trophy in Baisieux, France this weekend. Having missed out on a semi-final place by only one goal in their group, the Canaries went on finish sixth this afternoon after losing a play-off 1-0 to Valenciennes. We will publish a full report on this tournament later this week. |

15.05.05 - FULL NORHALNE CUP REPORTS We have now compiled our reports with photos on the trip to the 2005 Norhalne Cup. With the Under-13 squad winning their competition and the Under-12 squad enjoying a good first trip with the Academy there is plenty to report on. In the summary Academy Manager Ricky Martin gives his views on the tournament, while there are also reports on both the Under-13's and Under-12's in their respective competitions. |
09.05.05 - SUCCESSFUL TRIP TO DENMARK

The Under-13 and Under-12 squads that travelled to Denmark for last week's Norhalne Cup will return late this evening as a successful and undoubtedly tired group after another FONCY funded trip abroad furthered the footballing education of Academy footballers. The Under-13 squad, led by delighted coach John Revell, won their competition, winning all their games and only conceding one goal. The Under-12 squad finished further down their competition but certainly gained a lot of experience and showed a lot of spirit on their first trip abroad. We will post a full report on the two squads' exploits on this site in the next couple of weeks, as soon as your busy webmaster has had time to compile the reports and collate the best of the photos. |

09.05.05 - FONCY BREAK ALL RECORDS AT END OF SEASON OPEN DAY The Canary's faithful fans again did FONCY pround at Sunday's Open Day, with a recording breaking day on the FONCY Stall and at the memorabilia auction bringing in several thousand pounds to boost FONCY's academy fundraising. 09.05.05 - BALLY SMART PROFILE John Landamore finishes his series of player profiles today with a look at Bally Smart, a young South African who has recent found the net for the Under-18's while still at school. The review features comments from David Williams on Bally's development and the obligatory question and answer session. We hope to update all our profiles next season as the current scholars continue to develop. |
